Assistant Headteacher – Literacy Lead
Inner London | Salary up to £83,000

A highly respected SEND school in Inner London, working in close partnership with our agency, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher – Literacy Lead to join their Senior Leadership Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and experienced leader to shape whole-school literacy strategy and ensure all students – many with complex learning needs – can access an engaging, inclusive, and aspirational curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership across literacy development, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
  • Lead and manage curriculum planning and delivery across English and literacy, with clear progression and cross-curricular links
  • Develop and implement tailored literacy interventions to meet diverse pupil needs
  • Champion high standards of teaching, behaviour, and attainment, holding staff to account for consistent delivery
  • Support whole-school improvement, evaluation and reporting as part of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Contribute to and uphold the school’s inclusive ethos, promoting excellence, equity, and wellbeing for all pupils
  • Act as a key point of contact for behaviour management, accreditation, and school performance analysis
  • Deliver up to 50% teaching timetable, modelling excellent practice in the classroom

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Substantial teaching and leadership experience within a SEND or inclusive educational setting
  • Proven expertise in literacy and curriculum development
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based approaches to raising attainment
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to professional development, coaching, and mentoring

Salary: Up to £83,000 (Inner London)
Location: Inner London
Start Date: Negotiable for the right candidate
